Invasive Plants Dye Baths & Wool Processing Workshop

Join us in dipping fabric goods in natural dye brews and learn more about processing local wool!

What will we dye?

The plants in this gathering have all been harvested locally and are considered “invasive”, meaning they are not native to our region and should be removed.

The materials include:

  • A 22” X 22” cotton bandana

  • Optional - Bring your own, see instructions below & add to your cart for checkout

  • Optional - Ready to dye items from our rack on site

What will wool processing include?

The wool…

  • Carding and Spinning

.

Optional add-on: Bring your own item (s)

If you plan to bring your own item to over dye please make sure it is no larger then 5 × 5 × 5”. You are able to bring up to 2 additional items per participant.

To make sure your item is ready for the dye bath, please make sure you scour your item. Scouring will remove anything the fabric might have been sealed with and cleanse it.

To scour, simply boil your item in a large pot on your stovetop with mild dish soap or laundry detergent for about an hour. Try to move your fabric around every 15 minutes or so in order to make sure it’s thoroughly scoured. Once completed, turn off your stove and let cool, then rinse to get as much soap out as possible and hang to dry.
